Enrichment
NBFA After School Enrichment
NBFA is committed to fencing as the physical education component of the motivated, college-bound child. Fencing develops the body and mind along the classical lines of in corpus sano mensa sana, or "sound body sound mind." Maestro Peter Burchard is a life-long teacher on the high school and college level. He is committed to fencing as the "It" component on the college application. The most prestigious institutions in the country offer fencing programs and are looking to recruit skilled athletes every year. Maestro Burchard's athletes have gone on to such colleges as:
- Harvard (where two were captains of the fencing team)
- Yale
- Columbia and Barnard
- University of Pennsylvania
- Stanford
- MIT
- Ohio State
NBFA attracts ambitious student athletes from all over the North Bay to develop their skills together. We offer a recognized alternative Physical Education program for both public and private schools.
On-Site School Athletics
NBFA is collaborating with schools throughout Sonoma County to include fencing on their athletic curriculum. Our coaches work with athletic departments to schedule fencing classes and develop school fencing teams. In participation with schools, NBFA hopes to design a Sonoma County Schools Fencing League, much like that of the San Francisco Unified School District League. Will your school be the first County Champion?
